The metalog panel is tool that can aid user judgment about how many metalog terms n to use. It arrays PDFs for a range of values of n for for a given CDF input data set (x,y). An example metalog panel is shown below, which corresponds to the fish biology application (pp. 34-36) in The Metalog Distributions. It is evident from this panel how the metalog increasingly molds itself to the shape of the data and eventually stabilizes its shape as n increases.
